World's Longest-Running Phantom to Release Solo CD in January; TV Appearances, Too

Franc D'Ambrosio, who played the title role in the San Francisco production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera for six years, will release a solo CD next month.
"Franc D'Ambrosio's Broadway" will be available on the LML Music label beginning Jan. 4, 2005. The single disc features tunes from such musicals as Chicago, Brigadoon, Damn Yankees, Les Misérables, Sweeney Todd, Jekyll & Hyde and, of course, The Phantom of the Opera. D'Ambrosio will perform a song from the disc — a new version of Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley's "What Kind of Fool Am I?" — on the Dec. 30 broadcast of NBC's "The Today Show."
D'Ambrosio will also be a special musical guest star on the upcoming NBC special "Brian Boitano's Skating Spectacular." The skating show will air on NBC Jan. 1, 2005 from 4-6 PM ET.
Franc D'Ambrosio starred in the San Francisco production of The Phantom of the Opera for six years. Having performed that role 2,600 times, he was given the title "The World's Longest-Running Phantom" in 1998. The actor-singer earned a National Theatre Award nomination for Best Male Performer in a Musical for his work as Tony in the pre-Broadway tour of Copacabana. He was also seen as Anthony Corleone, Al Pacino's opera-singing son, in "The Godfather Part III." D'Ambrosio continues to headline a 76-city national tour of Franc D'Ambrosio's Broadway.
