Casting Announced for Christopher Shinn's On the Mountain , at Playwrights Horizons Feb. 4-March 13, 2005

The New York premiere of Christopher Shinn's On the Mountain, in a staging by Off-Broadway's Playwrights Horizons, will feature Tony Award nominee Amy Ryan, Alison Pill, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and James Lloyd Reynolds.

Jo Bonney (Fat Pig, Living Out ) directs the play about a former rock 'n' roll wild child (Ryan) who is haunted by the suicide of a Seattle rock legend and struggling with the rebellion of her own "iPod obsessed teenage daughter" (Pill). "When rumors of the rock star's final, lost song bring a charming young man (Moss-Bachrach) with questionable motives into the picture, an intriguing mystery begins to unfold," according to PH notes.

Performances begin Feb. 4, 2005, toward a Feb. 24 opening on the Playwrights Horizons Mainstage. Performances will continue through March 13.

Ryan has been seen in Broadway's Uncle Vanya (for which she was Tony nommed), The Women, Three Sisters and Sisters Rosensweig .

Pill is an up-and-coming film and stage actress known for the films "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" and "Pieces of April," and Off-Broadway's "The Distance from Here"). Moss-Bachrach appeared in the films "The Dying Gaul," "Mona Lisa Smile" and "The Royal Tenenbaums," and in Off-Broadway's "Fifth of July" and "36 Views"). James Lloyd Reynolds is a 2004 Yale School of Drama graduate.

Christopher Shinn was born in Hartford in 1975 and lives in New York. His plays include Other People (Royal Court, Playwrights Horizons), The Coming World (Soho Theatre, London), What Didn't Happen (Playwrights Horizons), Four (Royal Court, Worth Street, Manhattan Theatre Club) and Where Do We Live (Royal Court, Vineyard). He made his directorial debut with the Vineyard production of Where Do We Live . He has received grants from NEA/TCG Residency Grant (Hartford Stage) and the Peter S. Reed Foundation. He's a member of New Dramatists, Usual Suspects and Vineyard Theatre Community of Artists.

The production will feature scenic design by Neil Patel, costume design by Mimi O'Donnell, lighting design by David Weiner and sound design by John Gromada.
