Producers, Wicked, On the Record, Hairspray and More Slated for Dallas Summer Musicals in 2005

By Kenneth Jones
28 Dec 2004

Dallas Summer Musicals delivers a season of big Broadway tours in 2005, introducing Dallas to Wicked, Disney's On the Record and more.

Subscription packages are now on sale for the 2005 season at the Music Hall at Fair Park. Michael A. Jenkins, president and managing director of Dallas Summer Musicals, said in a statement, "Our goal is to bring the best possible Broadway musicals to Dallas, and this year we have definitely accomplished this objective, with blockbuster shows that are still playing to sold-out audiences on Broadway."

The 2005 season starts March 15-27 with the 2003 winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Hairspray.

Emmy Award-winning and Tony Award-nominated Cathy Rigby returns with Peter Pan May 24-June 5.

Mel Brooks' smash musical, The Producers, Disney's musical songbook, On the Record, directed by Robert Longbottom and featuring 64 memorable hits, runs June 21-July 3.

The Twyla Tharp-Billy Joel collaboration, Movin' Out, telling the all-dance tale of a group of friends in the 1960s and '70s, visits July 13-24.

Stephen Schwartz's smash "Oz"-themed musical, Wicked, plays Oct. 5-23.

Single tickets for Hairspray will go on sale in February 2005, and single tickets for the other five Dallas Summer Musicals shows will go on sale mid-April.
