Avenue Q's D'Abruzzo Featured in Another Saturday Night in New York Concert

By Andrew Gans
19 Jan 2005

Stephanie D'Abruzzo

Stephanie D'Abruzzo, the Tony-nominated star of the Tony-winning Avenue Q, will be part of the cast of Another Saturday Night in New York, a modern romantic musical comedy that will be presented Jan. 25 at the Donnell Library Theatre.

Hosted by producer-director John F. Znidarsic, the 6 PM presentation will also feature the talents of Colin Hanlon, Michelle Miller, James Sasser, Erica Schroeder and Little Shop of Horrors' Michael-Leon Wooley. Another Saturday Night in New York features music by Joshua Salzman and book and lyrics by Ryan Cunningham.

Another Saturday Night in New York is an updated version of Pride and Prejudice with the genders reversed. The musical, according to production notes, follows "Austin Bennett, a greeting card writer who walks in on his girlfriend with another man. He heads back out into the treacherous dating world of New York City with only his brother to guide him. Despite his brother's utter incompetence, Austin meets Marcy, whose spontaneity is matched only by her ability to drive Austin insane."

Stephanie D'Abruzzo is currently making her Broadway debut in Avenue Q at the Golden Theatre. She received a Tony nomination for her work in the Broadway production and a Drama Desk nomination for her work in the Off-Broadway mounting of Q. She has also been seen on stage in the City Center Encores! production of Carnival, the all-star Chess concert and the Encores! 10th Anniversary Bash. D'Abruzzo has spent several seasons on "Sesame Street" and the kids show "Oobi."

The Donnell Library Theater is located in Manhattan at 20 West 53rd Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. There is no charge for the concert, although seating is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information call (212) 265-3495, ext. 218 or visit www.AnotherSaturdayNightInNewYork.com.
