Elaine Stritch, who recently won an Emmy Award for the television broadcast of Elaine Stritch at Liberty, will play New York's Cafe Carlyle in the fall.

From Sept. 13-Oct. 29, the Tony Award-winning actress will entertain audiences at the plush cabaret room, according to a spokesperson for the Carlyle. Stritch's act will be based on the program she premiered March 4 during her American Songbook performance at the Frederick P. Rose Hall's Allen Room. That evening featured songs by Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman and Cy Coleman with anecdotes about Frank Sinatra, Noël Coward, Rex Harrison and Judy Garland.

Through April 9, the Carlyle is currently presenting Tony Award winner Betty Buckley; Buckley's evening of Smoke will be followed by theatre veteran Barbara Cook (April 12-30) and Carlyle regular Bobby Short (May 3 June 25).

Elaine Stritch triumphed with her one-woman show Elaine Stritch at Liberty. That musical evening traced Stritch's career, which includes roles in Company, The Little Foxes, Bus Stop, A Delicate Balance, Sail Away and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. The show received a Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event as well as two Drama Desk Awards — Outstanding Solo Performance for Stritch and Outstanding Book of a Musical for Stritch and John Lahr. George C. Wolfe directed the Broadway run.
