Little Women's McGovern to Sing at Signature Theatre Gala

Maureen McGovern, who plays Marmee in the new Broadway musical Little Women, will perform at the Signature Theatre Company's upcoming Annual Gala.
The April 4 gala will honor Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel, whose works are being explored this season at the Signature. The evening at the Ritz-Carlton New York will also feature tributes by Edward Albee, Lee Blessing, Mark Brokaw, J. Smith-Cameron, John Guare, Cherry Jones, Romulus Linney, Kenneth Lonergan, Joe Mantello, David Morse, Edward Norton, Mary Louise Parker, Molly Ringwald and Basil Twist.
The evening will begin with cocktails at 6:30 PM, followed by dinner at 7:30 PM and the performance and tributes. A silent auction will also be part of the festivities.
Maureen McGovern's performing credits are numerous and varied. She appeared on Broadway in Nine, The Pirates of Penzance and The Threepenny Opera, and her many recordings include the Grammy nominated "The Pleasure of His Company" and the Academy Award-winning song "The Morning After." She was also seen in the films "The Towering Inferno," "Airplane!" and "The Cure for Boredom," and she appeared at the Sundance Theatre in The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and Jerry Herman's Dear World.
Paula Vogel is the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of How I Learned to Drive. The Signature Theatre Company recently presented one of her earlier works, The Oldest Profession, which was followed by The Baltimore Waltz. The Signature is currently offering the New York premiere of Vogel's Hot 'n' Throbbing.
