Lauren Kennedy and Alan Campbell Are Beauty and the Beast for North Carolina Theatre April 29

Lauren Kennedy

Lauren Kennedy is Belle to the Beast of her husband, Alan Campbell, in North Carolina Theatre's production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast April 29-May 8 in Raleigh.

Kennedy is known for her work in Broadway's Les Miserables, and the test runs of The Rhythm Club and The Last Five Years. She was Nellie Forbush in the National Theatre's staging of South Pacific, recently starred in the Los Angeles musical The Ten Commandments.

Kennedy met Campbell when they were both a part of the original New York cast of Sunset Boulevard . She covered the role of Betty, and Campbell starred as the screenwriter Joe Gillis.

Campbell was Tony Award-nominated for Sunset Boulevard. He also starred in Susan Stroman's 2000 Tony-winning musical, Contact at Lincoln Center Theater, which broadcast on PBS, "Live from Lincoln Center."

Campbell appeared for five seasons on "Jake and the Fatman." He is one of the original members of the Broadway Tenors along with Brent Barrett and Brian d'Arcy James.

The Disney musical Beauty and the Beast is still going strong on Broadway despite the fact that the famous script and score (inspired by the animated motion picture) are now available for licensing.

The North Carolina company also includes Ashley Adamek, Mathias Anderson, Jason Babinsky, Bryce Bermingham (Lefou), Jessica Leigh Brown, Catherine Cheng, Pauline Cobrda (Madame Bouche), Vinny Genna, Gregg Goodbrod (Gaston), John Arthur Greene, Jennifer Hoegemeyer, Lisa Kassay, Jeanne Lehman (Mrs. Potts), Rob Lorey (Lumiere), Rim Maculan (Cogsworth), Tyler Mann (Chip), Jennifer Menge, Heather Powell, Robby Roby, Rob Lee Savin (Maurice), Ronn Smith, Sara Braslow, George Tobey and Lauren Zapko.
