Julius Caesar's Tunie to Star in Les Liaisons Dangereuses

By Andrew Gans
26 May 2005

Tamara Tunie

Tamara Tunie, currently on Broadway in the Denzel Washington revival of Julius Caesar, has landed her next stage role.

Tunie, who plays Calpurnia in the Daniel Sullivan-directed production of Caesar at the Belasco Theatre, will star in The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's upcoming staging of Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Tunie will play the scheming La Marquise de Merteuil opposite David Conrad's Le Vicomte de Valmont in the staging of the Christopher Hampton play, which runs July 5-24 at the New Jersey theatre. Bonnie J. Monte directs.

On Broadway Tamara Tunie has been seen in Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music; Oh, Kay! as well as in the benefit concert of Dreamgirls. Her Off-Broadway credits include Troilus and Cressida and Loose Knit, and her regional credits include Antony and Cleopatra and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Tunie has been seen on screen in "The Devil's Advocate," "Caveman's Valentine," "City Hall," "Eve's Bayou," "Snake Eyes," "24," "Sex and the City" and "NYPD Blue." She is currently starring on both "Law & Order: SVU" and "As the World Turns."
