Broadway Ringtones for Avenue Q, Brooklyn, The Producers, Wicked and More Available on Sprint

By Ernio Hernandez
02 Jun 2005

The next time a cell phone goes off in the middle of a show, audience members may not be as bothered, as Sprint has announced clips from Broadway shows like Wicked, Avenue Q, Hairspray and Brooklyn as ringtones.

Sprint — which have shown support of the Broadway community with sponsorships of the Tony Awards and the League of American Theatres and Producers, Inc. — now offers its fans (and Sprint service customers) availability of Music Tones featuring actual song clips of past (Hair, Ragtime, Titanic) and present (The Producers, Chicago) Broadway musicals.

"Broadway ringers offer fans a totally new way to enjoy show tunes from their favorite productions," said League President Jed Bernstein. "Our partnership with Sprint has helped us build excitement for Broadway among a larger audience."

Sprint's vice president of Product Marketing and Strategy Jeff Hallock stated "As a proud partner of Live Broadway, we're glad to offer an extensive line-up of Broadway show tunes as Music Tones through our Sprint PCS Vision service. Broadway fans join the masses of music enthusiasts who enjoy personalizing their phone with their favorite tunes."

Broadway Ringers include:

  • Avenue Q: "It Sucks to Be Me"
  • Brooklyn: "Once Upon a Time"
  • Chicago: "All That Jazz"
  • Fiddler on the Roof: "Tradition"
  • Hair: "Aquarius," "Hair"
  • Hairspray: "Good Morning, Baltimore," "I Can Hear The Bells," "It Takes Two," "Mama, I'm a Big Girl Now"
  • The Phantom of the Opera: "All I Ask Of You," "Masquerade," "The Music of the Night," "The Phantom of the Opera," "The Point of No Return"
  • The Producers: "I Wanna Be A Producer," "That Face," "We Can Do It," "When You Got It, Flaunt It"
  • Ragtime: "New Music"
  • The Rocky Horror Show: "Science Fiction Double Feature," "Time Warp"
  • The Sound of Music: "Do-Re-Mi"
  • Titanic: "Lady's Maid"
  • Wicked: "Defying Gravity," "For Good," "Popular," "The Wizard and I"

Sprint PCS Vision customers can purchase and download ringers directly from their phones or at www.sprintpcs.com for $2.50 each. For more information and sample previews of Broadway-themed Music Tones, visit www.sprint.com/broadway.
