John Epperson

New York's Zipper Theatre will present a two-week concert series June 14-26 to showcase the talents of the New York theatre community.

Entitled Unzipped Concert Series, the program will kick off June 14 at 8 PM with "Songwriter's Night." Hosted by Jeremy Schonfeld, the concert will feature songwriters Paul Scott Goodman (Bright Lights, Big City), Karen Jacobsen (Songwriter's Hall of Fame award winner), Michael Lanning (Civil War) and Larry O'Keefe (Bat Boy).

John Epperson, the artist principally known as Lyspinka, will perform his one-man show Show Trash June 18 at 8 PM. Directed by Barry Kleinbort, the evening features special lyrics by Kleinbort, Epperson and Tom Orr with video design by Erik Trester.

A Hip-Hop Theater Festival will be presented June 18 at 11 PM, and "Above the Belt" is the title of the 3 PM show on June 19 that features "powerful aerial artists from around the world performing one-of-a-kind astonishing dances."

Current Glengarry Glen Ross star Tom Wopat will perform songs from his new CD, "Tom Wopat Sings Harold Arlen," during his 7:30 PM concert June 19, and the Tony-nominated star of Movin' Out, Michael Cavanaugh, will perform with a band drawn from Broadway's best musicians June 20 at 7 PM.

Everett Bradley, who was Tony-nominated for his work in Swing!, will take to the Zipper stage June 21 at 8 PM. The first half of his evening will feature a preview of his own musical theatre work Ev/olution, and the second half will feature many of his other compositions.

A stellar line-up of theatre's leading ladies — including Rebecca Luker, Audra McDonald and Jennifer Simard — will be on hand June 22 at 8 PM to take part in the "Jeff Blumenkrantz Songbook." Composer Blumenkrantz will be featured at the piano.

"The Music of Jeremy Kushnier and Jeremy Schonfeld" will be presented June 23 at 8 PM. Kushnier and Schonfeld will offer their original songs in separate acts. Kushnier has been seen on Broadway in Rent and Footloose; Schonfeld is the creator of the new musical in development Drift.

Broadway regular Darius de Haas will be one of the special guests at the 8 PM June 24 evening celebrating the work of Grammy Award-winning artist and producer David Pack. The Hip-Hop Theatre Festival will present Eisa Davis on June 25 at 11 PM, and the series concludes June 26 at 7 PM with the Grammy-winning vocal group New York Voices, which features Peter Eldridge and Lauren Kinhan.

The Zipper Theatre is located at 336 West 37th Street. For tickets and further information call (212) 563-0480.
