The "Cheers&Jeers" section of the June 26 TV Guide says, "Cheers to Kate Burton for a pair of heartbreaking performances. The Broadway veteran brought pathos to the roles of Ellen Pompeo's Alzheimer's-afflicted mother in 'Grey's Anatomy' and Ed Harris' disabled admirer in 'Empire Falls.' She clearly inherited talent from her late father, Richard Burton."
Burton was similarly cheered by the Tony Nominating Committee in 2002 when she received dual nominations: Best Actress in a Play for Hedda Gabler and Best Featured Actress in a Play for The Elephant Man. Burton has also appeared on Broadway in The Beauty Queen of Leenane, An American Daughter, Company, Jake's Women, Some Americans Abroad, Wild Honey, Doonesbury, Alice in Wonderland and Present Laughter. Her screen credits include "Celebrity," "Ice Storm," "First Wives Club" and "August."
