Orfeh Joins Cast of Off-Broadway's The Great American Trailer Park Musical

Broadway actress Orfeh will join the cast of Off-Broadway's upcoming The Great American Trailer Park Musical set for an Aug. 20 start at Dodger Stages. More designers have also been added.

Producers Jean Doumanian (Democracy) and Jeffrey Richards (Glengarry Glen Ross) team to present the work seen last summer at The New York Musical Theatre Festival to open Sept. 15, according to production spokespersons.

The surnameless star has appeared on Broadway in Saturday Night Fever (where she met hubby Andy Karl, now in Altar Boyz), The Gershwins' Fascinating Rhythm and Footloose and Off-Broadway in Love, Janis as well as the Actors' Fund concerts of Dreamgirls and Hair.

Featuring music and lyrics by David Nehls with a book by Betsy Kelso (who also directs the show), the country-rock and blues musical billed as "A new show about magic-marker huffing, handguns, agoraphobia, '80's nostalgia, spray cheese, Oprah, road kill, hysterical pregnancy, a broken electric chair, kleptomania, strippers, flan & disco."

The Great American Trailer Park Musical centers around an agoraphobic, Dr. Phil-loving housewife who must save her marriage when Armadillo Acres' newest tenant — a hot, young stripper — gets friendly with her husband.

Orfeh joins the new cast of The Great American Trailer Park Musical which will include Tony Award winner Shuler Hensley (Oklahoma, "Van Helsing"), Linda Hart (Hairspray, Anything Goes), Kaitlin Hopkins (Bat Boy, Noises Off, Bare), Leslie Kritzer (Hairspray, Bat Boy), Wayne Wilcox (A Man of No Importance, The Light in the Piazza) and original cast member Marya Grandy.

Markas Henry (costumes) and Peter Fitzgerald (sound) join the previously announced design team featuring Derek McLane (sets) and Donald Holder (lighting).
