Q’s Tartaglia Offers Final NYC Performance of AD-Liberty July 4

By Andrew Gans
02 Jul 2005

John Tartaglia, who scored a Tony nomination for his Broadway debut in Avenue Q, will offer his acclaimed cabaret act AD-Liberty July 4 at Joe’s Pub.

The evening will mark the final New York performance of AD-Liberty, the young actor told Playbill.com. He will reprise the show for the upcoming Rosie O’Donnell RFamily Vacations cruise, but it will be the last time New York cabaretgoers have a chance to catch the act, which features direction by Alan Muraoka and choreography by Jamie Harris. “As it looks likely I'll be in Vegas with Avenue Q — final negotiations are underway — we're looking at creating an entirely new show for the winter when I return,” Tartaglia added.

Show time for AD-Liberty is 7 PM. Song titles include "This Plum Is Too Ripe," "YMCA" and "Taylor, the Latte Boy."

John Tartaglia made his Broadway debut in Avenue Q. He received a Tony nomination, a Theatre World Award and the Clarence Derwent Award for that performance. The singer-actor also appeared in the Children of Eden and Hair benefit concerts and in the City Center Encores! presentation of Carnival. His TV credits include eight seasons on "Sesame Street" as well as "Animal Jam," "Bear in the Big Blue House," "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" and "The Rosie O'Donnell Show." Tartaglia was also seen in the Empty-Handed concerts at the Lucille Lortel Theatre and has performed solo evenings at the Ars Nova and Joe's Pub. His final performance in Avenue Q was Jan. 30, 2005. TV Guide also recently reported that the Disney Channel will offer "Johnny and the Sprites" — a "musical fantasy series" created especially for Tartaglia — some time in 2006.

Joe's Pub is located within the Public Theater at 425 Lafayette Street. Tickets are available by calling (212) 239-6200 or by visiting www.telecharge.com.
