The first public performance of The Likes of Us — the first musical ever penned by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice — will be presented July 12 at London's Mermaid Theatre.
The Likes of Us, written 40 years ago, was based on the life of Victorian philanthropist Dr. Barnardo. The musical will be part of Lloyd Webber's upcoming Sydmonton Festival July 9. The cast will reportedly feature Stephen Fry as narrator.
Together, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice wrote such hit musicals as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita.
The Mermaid Theatre is located at Puddle Dock, Upper Thames Street, Blackfriars. Those interested in trying to win tickets to the concert should visit the BBC website by clicking Here.
