Boston Gets a White Christmas Early as Box Office for Musical Opens, July 25

The Wang Theatre will celebrate Christmas in July as the Boston stage begins ticket sales for its upcoming holiday staging of White Christmas, July 25.
The event — which begins at 10 AM — will feature holiday caroling, Christmas craft fair, photos with Santa and even an ice-skating exhibition in The Wang Theatre’s Grand Lobby.
Boston audiences will enjoy the holiday classic on stage this year Nov. 25-Dec. 31 at The Wang Theatre.
The new production of the Irving Berlin movie-turned-stage musical White Christmas made its world premiere last year at San Francisco's Curran Theatre and will be featured on the Best of Broadway series' Orpheum Theatre this year (Nov. 9-Dec. 31). Another production is scheduled to play at Los Angeles' Pantages Theatre (Nov. 22-Jan. 1, 2006) as part of the Broadway/LA series.
The Producing Office, Paul Blake, Sonny Everett and Dan Markley in association with Paramount Pictures present the stage musical White Christmas directed by Walter Bobbie (Sweet Charity, Chicago).
The 1954 film "White Christmas" centers on the story of two former WWII Army vets who team up for a song-and-dance act. The duo soon meet up with a sister song and-dance act and head to a Vermont lodge to perform a Christmas show. The lodge happens to be owned by the boys' former general.
David Ives (All in the Timing, Wonderful Town) pens the book to the new Christmas musical based on the Paul Blake's script for the world premiere stage adaptation at St. Louis' The Muny. The original screenplay was written by Norman Krasna, Norman Panama and Melvin Frank.
Randy Skinner (42nd Street) handles choreography. Larry Blank provides orchestrations with vocal and dance arrangements by Bruce Pomahac. Rob Berman serves as musical director.
The design team of White Christmas features Anna Louizos (set), Carrie Robbins (costume), Ken Billington (lighting) and Acme Sound Partners (sound).
The original musical comedy starred Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Vera Ellen and Rosemary Clooney singing such Berlin songs as "The Best Things Happen When You're Dancing," "Sisters," "Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep," "Mandy," "Geee! I Wish I Was Back in the Army," "Snow," "Choreography," "What Can You Do With a General?" and the classic title song.
Brian d'Arcy James (Titanic) and Jeffry Denman ( The Producers) originated the roles made famous by Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye opposite Anastasia Barzee (Urinetown) and Meredith Patterson (42nd Street) who took on the sister roles played by Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen. Casting for all three new runs is yet to be determined.
