"Rent" Film Cast Sings on "Today Show" Aug. 4

The cast of the upcoming film of Jonathan Larson's "Rent" will perform on the "Today Show" Aug. 4.
The live performance is part of the "Toyota Summer Concert Series," which continues Aug. 5 with singer Faith Hill. The "Today Show" airs in the metropolitan area on WNBC-TV Channel 4 beginning at 7 AM ET; check local listings.
As previously announced, the "Rent" cast will then head to Bryant Park to perform in the Broadway for Life lunchtime series at 12:30 PM on Aug. 4. Bryant Park is located in Manhattan at 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue.
Directed by Christopher Columbus, "Rent" will open in limited release Nov. 11 and will hit screen across the country Nov. 23. The Columbia Pictures/Revolution Studios film, with a screenplay by Columbus and Stephen Chbosky, stars Taye Diggs (Benny), Wilson Jermaine Heredia (Angel), Jesse L. Martin (Tom Collins), Idina Menzel (Maureen), Adam Pascal (Roger), Anthony Rapp (Mark), Rosario Dawson (Mimi) and Tracie Thoms (Joanne).
