Lonny Price will direct the world premiere of Between Seconds, written and performed by screen actress Mary Pat Gleason at Off-Broadway's Vineyard Theatre in 2006.

The work will debut in the new season for the Off-Broadway company, according to the Vineyard's subscriber brochure.

Between Seconds follows the real-life journey of the character actress' career, "chronicling her struggle with bipolar disorder and her subsequent search for healing," according to show materials. The work will take audiences "behind the scenes on the film sets of L.A. and the stages of New York."

Gleason — who appears in three upcoming films and the current "The Island" — has numerous film credits including small parts in the films "Soapdish," "Basic Instinct," "Lorenzo's Oil," "13 Going on 30" and "A Cinderella Story." She has also appeared in guest spots on such television shows as "Desperate Housewives," "Will & Grace," "Sex and the City" and "Malcolm in the Middle."

Price — who began his career as an actor — turned to work off stage having directed Broadway's MASTER HAROLD...and the boys and Urban Cowboy as well as Visiting Mr. Green, Grown Ups, The Rothschilds, Juno and the Ed Kleban musical A Class Act, which he co-wrote and starred in. As an actor, he appeared in Merrily We Roll Along, Burn This, MASTER HAROLD...and the boys and as the hotel owner's nerdy grandson in the film "Dirty Dancing."

The new season at the Vineyard begins with the upcoming Kirsten Childs musical Miracle Brothers (starting Sept. 18), directed by Tina Landau. The cast includes Kerry Butler, Cheryl Freeman, Jay Goede, Anika Larsen, Nicole Leach, Tyler Maynard, Darrell Moultrie, Clifton Oliver, Karen Olivo, Devin Richards, Gregory Treco and William Youmans.

For its third production, the Vineyard is considering Anne Washburn's The Internationalist, Jenny Schwartz's God's Ear and a new interpretation of J.M. Barrie's Mary Rose.

Tickets for shows at the Vineyard Theatre, 108 East 15 St. can be reserved by calling (212) 353-0303 or online at www.vineyardtheatre.org.
