Paz to Reprise Kim for Starlight's Miss Saigon

Jennifer Paz, who starred as Kim in the national tour of Miss Saigon, will reprise her role as the ill-fated bargirl for the Starlight Theatre in Balboa Park's production of the Alain Boublil-Claude-Michel Schönberg musical.

The production will conclude the Starlight's 2005 season. Brian Wells will direct the musical with choreography by David Brannen. Joining Paz onstage will be Robert Townsend as Chris, Victor Chan as the Engineer, Heidi Meyer as Ellen, Carlos Mendoza as Thuy and Jim Chatham as John. Miss Saigon will play Sept. 8-11 and Sept. 15-18.

The Saigon ensemble comprises Joe Altbaum, Meleilani Barnes, Daniel Boman, Joyelle Cabato, Kathleen Calvin, Jim Carkagis, Annie Chang, Zandi De Jesus, Rosalena Famania, Philip Golden, Charles Hand, Natalie Hein, William Henry, Judy Ho, Brian Imoto, Leviticus, Aaron Marcotte, Chris J. Martin, Russ Preves, Lindsay Marie Sablan, Parker Shyu, Sandy Shyu, Alpha Takahashi, Christine Timmons, Eric von Metzke, Charlotte Wen and Janelle Wen.

The creative team features Trisha Schleicher (lighting designer), Mark Hartshorn (sound designer), Suzi Arnson and Margo Selensky (costume coordinator and designer) and Parmer Fuller (musical director and conductor).

Miss Saigon debuted on Broadway on March 23, 1991, and ran through Jan. 28, 2001. Produced by Cameron Mackintosh and directed by Nicholas Hytner, the pop opera won Tony Awards for three of its original stars, Jonathan Pryce, Hinton Battle and Lea Salonga. Songs titles include "Sun and Moon," "I Still Believe," "Why God Why," "I’d Give My Life For You," "Now That I’ve Seen Her" and "The American Dream."

Jennifer Paz was seen on Broadway in the tenth anniversary cast of Les Misérables. Her other theatrical credits include Miss Saigon, Songs for a New World, Flower Drum Song, And the World Goes 'Round, The Fantasticks and Making Tracks. Her screen credits include "Can't Hardly Wait," "Touched By an Angel" and "As Told By Ginger."
