Downtown Duo Kiki & Herb Come Back to Life for The Resurrection Tour Across U.S.

By Ernio Hernandez
08 Sep 2005

Downtown New York favorites Kiki and Herb take their act on the road for their upcoming Kiki & Herb: The Resurrection Tour.

David J. Foster and Jared Geller present the 11-week national tour, which will launch Oct. 14 from Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art.

Following the duo's special "farewell performance" of Kiki & Herb Will Die For You at Carnegie Hall, the new tour will bring back the pair who offer unique renditions of popular songs by writers ranging from Eminem to Britney Spears to Kate Bush, peppered with political barbs and social observations.

Kiki & Herb: The Resurrection Tour will make stops in Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Pittsburgh, Ft. Lauderdale, Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles and end with a New Year’s Eve performance at the Herbst Theatre in the San Francisco Opera House complex, Dec. 31.

The beloved downtown song-and-booze cabaret act released their two-disc album of Kiki & Herb Will Die For You which also played in London and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The team also recently premiered the film Kiki & Herb: Reloaded at the 2005 Los Angeles Gay And Lesbian Film Festival and opened for the band Scissor Sisters at various venues.

Justin Bond and Kenny Mellman created Kiki & Herb in 1993 and have been embodying their respective alter-egos ever since in various shows. The infamous duo make their way through a number of songs, occasionally taking the off ramp into the brash and boozy bio of the "septuagenarian" (as her press release states) Kiki. As she "drags" us through those unforgettable moments, her shy straight man accompanist Herb tickles the ivories. Previous works include Kiki & Herb: Coup de Theatre, Jesus Wept and There's a Stranger in the Manger!
