The popular actor Cheech Marin (“Nash Bridges,” “The Lion King”) is stepping behind the scenes to direct the comedy Latinologues, which is currently in previews at Broadway’s Helen Hayes Theatre prior to its official opening on Oct. 23.
Marin has previously directed the films “Get Out of My Room” and “Born in East L.A.” Latinologues — by playwright and performer Rick Najera (“Mad TV”, “In Living Color”) — is described as “a collection of monologues, performed in English, revealing the Latino experience in America."
At left, actors Rene Lavan and Eugenio Derbez are seen in character during a preview performance on Sept. 14. Below, Marin, Derbez, Lavan and Najera are seen with cast member Shirley A. Rumierk after the performance at the Helen Hayes Theatre on West 44th Street in New York City.
