Staged Readings of Sheba Musical to Star Jekyll's Evan and Wicked's Massey

Complete casting has been announced for the upcoming staged readings of the musical Sheba, which will be presented Sept. 27 and 28 at the Barrow Group Theatre.

Presented by AMAS Musical Theatre and the New York Musical Theatre Festival, the readings will co-star Rob Evan as King Solomon and Brandy Chavonne Massey as Ni'Caul, the Queen of Sheba. The cast will also include Ana Marie Andricain, Sean Curley, Brett Glazer, Kevin Free, Danielle Greaves, Alan Green, Dequina Moore, Lyn Philistine, Manley Pope, Gerard Salvador, Stacey Scotte, Kacie Sheik, Peter Matthew Smith, Jodi Stevens and Bruce Winant. Iona Morris directs with musical direction by Debra Barsha.

The revised version of Sheba features book and lyrics by Sharleen Cooper Cohen with music by Gary William Friedman. A national tour of the musical is planned for 2006.

Rob Evan, a recent star of Little Shop of Horrors and Johnny Guitar, has appeared on Broadway in Dance of the Vampires, Jekyll & Hyde and Les Misérables. Another recent project was Off-Broadway's The Prince and the Pauper. His tour credits include Les Miz, Jekyll & Hyde and Hello, Dolly! A former UGA football player, Evan has appeared on ABC-TV's "All My Children," and his recordings include "Jekyll & Hyde," "The Civil War," "Cyrano," "The Broadway Musicals of 1940," "The Prince and the Pauper" and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's third Christmas album.

On Broadway Brandi Chavonne Massey has been seen in Wicked; Caroline, or Change; and Jekyll & Hyde. She starred in the West End production of The Lion King, and her Off-Broadway credits include Ghetto Superstar, Carmen Jones, Hair and Caroline, or Change. She has also appeared in regional productions of Once On This Island and The Wiz.

Show times are Sept. 27 at 3 and 6 PM and Sept. 28 at 1 PM. The Barrow Group Theatre is located in Manhattan at 312 West 36th Street. For reservations call (212) 563-2565.
