A new, never-before-seen ending to a Shakespeare play?
It would seem an impossibility, but that's what an Oct. 10 Mirror Repertory Company reading of H6R3 promises. The title is short for "Henry VI and Richard III." Playwright Pendleton has adapted the Bard history plays Henry VI, Part I and II and Richard III into a new work, and apparently fashioned a new conclusion. According to a press spokesperson, the scenes of the plays have been rearranged, which the evil Richard presented as a newborn at the very end.
Pendleton, Lynn Redgrave Daniel Gerroll, Lisa Pelikan
George Morfogen and Geraint Wyn Davies will star in the piece, which will be read at The Promenade Theatre.
Pendleton is the author of the hit Off-Broadway play Orson's Shadow.
The Mirror Repertory Company was founded in l983 by Sabra Jones Mc Ateer,
Geraldine Page, Eva Le Gallienne, and John Strasberg. According to press materials, it is "an alternating repertory company in the classic sense, with a different production every night." It's first project was the famous Alice in Wonderland presented on Broadway with Kate Burton in the title role.
Tickets to H6R3 are $50, $100, and $125 and available through Smarttix by calling (212) 868-4444. Top ticket price includes admission to the reading and
also a champagne reception with Lynn Redgrave, Austin Pendleton, Geraint Wyn
Davies and the rest of the cast. Proceeds from H6R3 benefit the Mirror Repertory Company and the Hurricane Katrina victims through the Red Cross.
