Marcia Milgrom Dodge to Helm World Premiere of Knight Life Musical

By Andrew Gans
29 Sep 2005

Marcia Milgrom Dodge, who directed Alice Ripley in the Kennedy Center's production of Tell Me on a Sunday, will helm the world premiere of Knight Life.

Subtitled The Girl Who Would Be King, the new musical will make its debut at Florida's Riverside Theatre in November. Performance dates are Nov. 18-Dec. 11.

Knight Life features book and lyrics by Robert Sternin and Prudence Fraser and music by Jeff Barry. Chris Caswell will be the show's musical director.

Described as "somewhere between Camelot and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," Knight Life concerns "knights in armor, a borscht belt jester, and a damsel more interested in swinging a sword than languishing in distress." Song titles include "Middle Aged in the Middle Ages" and "Gratuitous Violence."

Marcia Milgrom Dodge directed Radio Gals at the John Houseman Theatre, choreographed Richard Maltby and David Shire's Closer Than Ever at the Cherry Lane and helmed Donald Margulies' The Loman Family Picnic for Manhattan Theatre Club. She was also the associate choreographer for Broadway's High Society and has many regional credits, including both Anything Goes and Dames at Sea for the Riverside.

The Riverside Theatre is located in Vero Beach, FL at 3250 Riverside Park Drive. For tickets call (800) 445-6745 or (772) 231-6990.
