Tyne Daly and John Slattery will join Cynthia Nixon in the world premiere Broadway production of David Lindsay-Abaire's Rabbit Hole in 2006.

Manhattan Theatre Club announced the casting Sept. 29. Performances of the Daniel Sullivan-directed play begin Jan. 12, 2006, toward a Feb. 2 opening at MTC's Biltmore Theatre.

"Becca (Cynthia Nixon) and Howie Corbett (John Slattery) have everything a family could want, until the day their world is turned upside down," according to MTC. "In the aftermath of a life-shattering accident, the couple finds itself drifting perilously apart. Rabbit Hole charts their bittersweet search for comfort in the darkest of places and for a path that will lead them back up into the light of day."

Tyne Daly (a Tony Award winner for 1990's Gypsy, and an Emmy Award winner for "Cagney and Lacey" and "Judging Amy") will play the role of Nat, Becca's mother.

Slattery has appeared on Broadway in Betrayal and Laughter on the 23rd Floor, and has appeared in five other MTC productions, including Three Days of Rain in 1997.

Nixon won a 2004 Emmy Award for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance as Miranda Hobbes on HBO's "Sex and the City." Rabbit Hole is her first Broadway appearance since The Women in 2001.

The play will mark the Broadway debut of playwright David Lindsay-Abaire, who has been represented at MTC with productions of Fuddy Meers, Wonder of the World and Kimberly Akimbo.

Sullivan is the busy Tony-winning director of Proof, Sight Unseen, Julius Caesar and more.
