A one-night-only performance of Afternoon Tea, a new musical written for and starring Ed Harris and Amy Madigan, will be presented Dec. 11 at the Kirk Theater on Theatre Row.

The 7 PM performance is a benefit for INTAR Theatre, which is "dedicated to developing and producing Latino playwrights in English." Walter Kennon and Eduardo Macahdo's two-character musical explores the later years in the life of author J.M. Barrie. "After twenty years of being apart," reads press notes, "Barrie's wife comes back to reconcile their marriage . . . but he is still lost in the world of fantasy, youth, and Peter Pan."

The musical will be followed by a performance from Guys and Dolls' Josie de Guzman, who will sing selections from Peter Pan in Spanish. The evening will conclude with dinner at the restaurant Le Madeleine.

About the upcoming event, INTAR Artistic Director and Afternoon Tea playwright Machado said in a statement, "There's nothing better for a playwright than to write a play for such talented actors whose voices are a part of my artistic make-up. We decided to put on a show. We didn't have to renovate a barn to do it, but with the help of composer Walter Kennon, we are putting on a musical. So come hear us sing."

Ed Harris received Academy Award nominations for his performances in "Pollock," "The Hours," "The Truman Show" and "Apollo 13." He recently completed filming the title role in "Copying Beethoven" and can currently be seen in "A History of Violence." The actor has appeared on Broadway in Taking Sides and Precious Sons, earning a Drama Desk Award for his work in the latter. Harris' other stage credits include Fool for Love (Obie Award), Prairie Avenue, Scar, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Grapes of Wrath, Sweet Bird of Youth and Simpatico (Lucille Lortel Award).

Amy Madigan was nominated for an Academy Award for her work in "Twice in a Lifetime." She has also been seen in "Field of Dreams" and the HBO series "Carnivale." Madigan made her Broadway debut in the 1992 revival of A Streetcar Named Desire, and she also appeared in Eduardo Machado's Stevie Wants to Play the Blues at the Los Angeles Theatre Center.

Tickets, priced at $500, are available by calling Katie Kowaloff at (212) 581-2646. The Kirk Theater is located at 410 West 42nd Street. Le Madeleine can be found at 402 West 43rd Street.
