The songs of Rufus Wainwright will be refracted through a female sensibility in a new cabaret show, With Eyes in Love, featuring Angela Scollo, at The Hideaway Room at Helen's in Manhattan, Dec. 2-10.
The show "explores the complex view of life and love as found in the songs of Rufus Wainwright, re-arranged, re-examined and re-told from the female perspective of Angela Scollo."
Music director Mary-Mitchell Campbell's arrangements put a fresh spin on pop writer Wainwright's music. Technical direction is by Shane Mathews. Stephen Bel Davies directs.
With Eyes in Love: The Songs of Rufus Wainwright plays 11:30 PM on Dec. 2 & 9 and 11:20 PM on Dec. 3 & 10.
Scollo's cabaret shows include One Night Stand at Dillon's, Shut Up And Sing and The Feral Woman at Don't Tell Mama and The Duplex. Her theatre credits include Austin's Bridge, a new musical by Bill C. Davis (Mass Appeal) at the Sharon Playhouse in Connecticut; Trina in Falsettos and The Wife in In Trousers (the first time the two shows were performed together in New York City) at the Duplex. She has also appeared in productions of The Secret Garden, Man of La Mancha, Godspell and Working, as well as Will: As In Shakespeare, Blue Window, Rivals, The Long Christmas Dinner and Samuel Beckett's Play.
