Erin Dilly, who created the role of Truly Scrumptious for the Broadway production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, played her final performance in the new musical at the Hilton Theatre Dec. 9.

A spokesperson for the musical told Playbill.com that Dilly has departed the company because she is pregnant. During the remaining three weeks of the show — Chitty ends its New York run Dec. 31 — the role of Truly Scrumptious will be played some nights by Julie Barnes and others by Julie Tolivar.

Erin Dilly's Broadway credits include the revivals of The Boys From Syracuse, Into the Woods and Follies. Dilly also starred in the national tours of South Pacific, Beauty and the Beast and Martin Guerre as well as the City Center Encores! mounting of Babes in Arms. The actress received a Tony Award nomination for her work in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which is billed as a "fantasmagorical stage musical," officially opened at the newly renamed Hilton Theatre April 28. Previews for the production, based on the novel and film of the same name, began March 27. When it closes, the show will have played 34 previews and 285 regular performances.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang features music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. Song titles include "Truly Scrumptious," "Toot Sweets," "Hushabye Mountain" and the Oscar-nominated title song "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang."

Adrian Noble directed with musical staging by Gillian Lynne, sets and costumes by Anthony Ward, lighting by Mark Henderson, sound design by Andrew Bruce, orchestrations and dance arrangements by Chris Walker, musical supervision by Robert Scott and musical direction by Kristen Blodgette. Jeremy Sams adapted the show — which boasts a flying car — for the stage.

Tickets for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang are available by calling Ticketmaster at (212) 307-4100 or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
