NYC's Bingo Musical Gets a Refugee From Good Vibrations

By Kenneth Jones
19 Dec 2005

Jessica-Snow Wilson, of Broadway's Little Shop of Horrors and Good Vibrations, will join the cast of Bingo, Off-Broadway's musical comedy in which audiences play along with the cast.

Wilson joins the troupe at St. Luke's Theatre, 308 W. 46th Street, on Jan. 2, 2006.

Bingo is directed by Thomas Caruso, with book by Michael Heitzman and Ilene Reid, and lyrics and music by Heitzman, Reid and David Holcenberg.

Wilson will assume the role of Alison, "an unassuming young woman who appears in the Hamerin County Bingo Hall one terribly stormy evening, having made up her mind to right a longstanding wrong surrounding three die-hard Bingo-playing pals."

The role of Alison was originated in the Off-Broadway production by Beth Malone, who is set to begin rehearsals for the upcoming Broadway production of Ring of Fire.

Wilson originated the role of Marcella in Broadway's Good Vibrations and recently starred as Audrey opposite Joey Fatone in the revival of Little Shop of Horrors. Snow's other Broadway credits include Les Misérables (Eponine), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Philia standby), and the Encores! production of Hair (Crissy). Last summer, she appeared in the New York Musical Theatre Festival's Nerds://A Musical Software Satire and the 2005 FringeNYC production of Swimming Upstream. Off-Broadway credits include Zombie Prom (Toffee), original cast recording; and I Sing.

The Bingo cast includes Klea Blackhurst as Bernice/Marilyn, Chevi Colton as Minnie, Tony nominee Liz Larsen as Honey, Liz McCartney as Vern, Janet Metz as Patsy and Patrick Ryan Sullivan as Sam/Frank.

"In this environmental musical comedy, the audience gets to join in the Bingo game at Hamerin County’s St. Luke's Church basement, where they will meet — among others — Vern, Honey and Patsy, three pals that have driven through a terrible thunderstorm in the name of their weekly obsession," according to the producers. "In between the number calling, strange rituals and fierce competitions, love blossoms and estranged friends reunite, sending everyone home a winner."

With choreography by Lisa Stevens, Bingo features scenic design by Eric Renschler, costume design by Carol Brys, lighting design by John Viesta and sound design by Lewis Mead. Musical supervision and orchestrations by Steven Bishop.

Tickets are $65 and are available by calling Telecharge.com at (212) 239-6200, or in-person at the St. Luke’s Theatre box office (opens at noon daily, except Thursdays). For more information, please visit www.bingothemusical.com.
