Man Becomes Woman in Christine Jorgensen Reveals at Dodger Stages

Christine Jorgensen Reveals, about the life of America’s first famous transsexual, will play a limited engagement at Dodger Stages beginning Dec. 29.

The five-week run, directed by Josh Hecht, will star Bradford Louryk, who also conceived the piece. In the production, according to press notes, Louryk “brings his lipsynched recreation of [Christine Jorgensen’s] only recorded interview to life.”

George Jorgensen, who once said, “My only answer is that I am more of a woman than a man,” traveled from New York to Denmark in 1952 to undergo a sex-change operation. When he returned to the States as Christine, Jorgensen was the subject of much curiosity and controversy.

The creative team comprises Mary Ping (costume design), Jason P. Hayes (wig design), Wilson Chin (scenic design), Josh Bradford (lighting design), Rob Kaplowitz (sound design), Kevin Frech (video/production design) and Jung Griffin (prop design).
