Bingo Will End in NYC Feb. 12, But Cast Album and Tour Expected

By Kenneth Jones
06 Feb 2006

Bingo, the musical where the audience gambles along with the cast, will close Off-Broadway Feb. 12 at St. Luke's Theatre.

By the end of its run, Bingo will have played 19 previews and 92 regular performances. A cast album will be released in March, and a national tour is being planned for 2007-08, under the auspices of Off-Broadway Booking (www.offbroadwaybooking.com). The cast album will be available at Amazon.com.

Bingo is directed by Thomas Caruso, with a book by Michael Heitzman & Ilene Reid, and music and lyrics by Heitzman, Reid and David Holcenberg. Lisa Stevens is the choreographer.

Bingo opened Nov. 7, 2005, following previews from Oct. 24, 2005.

In the show, set in Hamerin County's St. Luke's Church basement, audiences meet "Vern, Honey and Patsy, three pals that have driven through a terrible thunderstorm in the name of their weekly obsession," according to the producers. "In between the number calling, strange rituals and fierce competitions, love blossoms and estranged friends reunite, sending everyone home a winner."

The cast includes Klea Blackhurst as Bernice/Marilyn, Chevi Colton as Minnie, Tony nominee Liz Larsen as Honey, Liz McCartney as Vern, Janet Metz as Patsy, Patrick Ryan Sullivan as Sam/Frank and Jessica-Snow Wilson as Alison.

Bingo features scenic design by Eric Renschler, costume design by Carol Brys, lighting design by John Viesta and sound design by Lewis Mead. Musical supervision and orchestrations are by Steven Bishop.

Bingo is presented by Aruba Productions and Buddy & Sally Productions, in association with Corsican Summer Productions, Sharleen Cooper Cohen and Corporate Soup.

Bingo plays Saturdays at 2 PM and 8 PM, and Sundays at 3 PM. Tickets $65 and are available by calling Telecharge.com at (212) 239-6200, or in-person at the St. Luke's Theatre box office.
