"ER" Star Tierney Becomes One of LaBute's Some Girl(s) for US Debut

| photo by Jack Guy | Actress Maura Tierney — currently seen on NBC's "ER" — will star in the upcoming MCC Theatre's American premiere of Neil LaBute's Some Girl(s).
Jo Bonney (On the Mountain, Living Out) will stage the work that will debut May 17-June 24 Off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Opening night is set for June 8. Further casting to be announced.
In LaBute's exposé of the modern male, Some Girl(s), a blossoming writer is on the verge of matrimony when he comes down with a bad case of cold feet. So much so, he not only calls up old girlfriends, he hops flights to see them. "One Guy. Four Exes. Four Cities. One Hell of a Trip," boasted show materials for its West End debut.
Tierney — who earned an Emmy Award nomination for her turn as Abby Lockhart on "ER" — has appeared in such films as "Primary Colors," "Welcome to Mooseport," "Liar, Liar," "Instinct," "Forces of Nature" and "Scotland PA" — an updated film take on Macbeth. The actress also known for her TV work on "NewsRadio" has appeared on stage in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, The Bald Soprano, Baby with Bathwater, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea and Talking With.
David Schwimmer starred in the London premiere May 2005 at the Gielgud Theatre with a cast of women that included Saffron Burrows, Lesley Manville, Sara Powell and Catherine Tate. The "Friends" star will be otherwise employed when the show comes to the States; he'll make his Broadway debut in the upcoming revival of Herman Wouk's The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial.
The design team for Some Girl(s) features Neil Patel (set), Mimi O'Donnell (costume), David Weiner (lighting) and Rob Kaplowitz (sound).
The new LaBute work marks the fourth collaboration with MCC following The Mercy Seat, The Distance From Here and Fat Pig. MCC also produced a one night benefit evening of LaBute plays, Autobahn. Some Girl(s) director Bonney joined the team for Fat Pig. The new work replaces the previously announced Swallowing Bicycles.
MCC currently presents Glen Berger's The Wooden Breeks featuring Veanne Cox, Ron Cephas Jones, Ana Reeder and Adam Rothenberg under the direction of Trip Cullman (Dog Sees God, Roulette). The company began its 20th anniversary mainstage season with Laura Wade's Colder Than Here starring Judith Light, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson and Brian Murray.
