Lascivious Something Begins Limited Cherry Lane Run March 14

By Andrew Gans
13 Mar 2006

The Cherry Lane Theatre's Mentor Project 2006 kicks off March 14 with Lascivious Something, a new play by Sheila Callaghan.

Directed by Suzanne Agins, the play will be presented at the Cherry Lane Studio for a one-week engagement through March 25. The cast includes Charles Borland, Jessi Campbell, Christina Lind and Danielle Skraastad.

"August fled the country to be with his beautiful young Greek bride on a secluded Mediterranean island, where he planted a modest vineyard," reads Lascivious Something press notes. "Now, Reagan's in the White House, his wife is pregnant, his crop is robust, and he is about to experience his first wine tasting, when a woman in a large-brimmed hat arrives."

The creative team for the production comprises Kerry Chipman (set design), Rebecca Bernstein (costume design), Ian Grunes (lighting design) and Bill Bowen (sound design).

The Mentor Project matches pre-eminent dramatists with aspiring playwrights for an entire theatre season. Lascivious scribe Callaghan was mentored by Michael Weller. Callaghan's play will be followed by Katori Hall's Hodoo Love (April 4-15) and Megan Mostyn-Brown's Girl (April 25-May 6).

Lascivious Something will play Tuesday-Friday evenings at 7 PM and Saturdays at 3 and 7 PM. Tickets, priced $15 and $5 (students), are available by calling (212) 989-2020. The Cherry Lane Studio Theatre is located at 38 Commerce Street in Greenwich Village. Visit www.cherrylanetheatre.org for more information.
