The Songbook Series — presented by Arts and Artists at St. Paul's — continues March 28 with excerpts from the new musical Depressed, Depressed!
Depressed, Depressed! features book and lyrics by Carl Kissin and music by D.D. Jackson. The musical, according to press notes, concerns "Neal, a neurotic stand-up comic, [who] has been dumped by the woman of his dreams. Besieged by family, friends, and therapists who all believe they know what's best for him, he sinks into depression -- but the entertaining kind, where people sing and dance a lot. Can Neal navigate this minefield of psychological dangers to rejoin the living?"
John Znidarsic, the concert's producer and director, will host the free event.
The Songbook series, now in its 15th year, presents "the newest music of Broadway in live performance by today's brightest talents." The works of Jason Robert Brown, Andrew Lippa, Gerard Alessandrini and John Bucchino have all been part of the acclaimed series.
The Donnell Library Center is located at 20 West 53rd Street. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. For further information, call Arts and Artists at (212) 265-3495, ext. 336.
