Polydor to Release 2006 London Cast Recording of Evita

By Andrew Gans
19 Apr 2006

The cast recording of the upcoming West End revival of Evita — set to begin performances at London's Adelphi Theatre June 2 — will be released on the Polydor label.

According to Amazon.uk, the new Evita recording will be available June 19, although pre-orders are currently being accepted on that website. The new Evita recording stars Argentine actress Elena Roger in the title role with Philip Quast as Peron, Matt Rawle as Che, Lorna Want as the Mistress and Gary Milner as Magaldi.

The single CD of the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical will feature 19 tracks, including "You Must Love Me," which was penned for the motion picture of Evita, which starred Madonna as the famed wife of the Argentine dictator. The complete track listing follows.
"Requiem for Evita"
"Oh What a Circus"
"On This Night of a Thousand Stars"
"Eva And Magaldi/Eve Beware of the City"
"Buenos Aires"
"Another Suitcase in Another Hall"
"Goodnight and Thank You"
"I'd Be Surprisingly Good for You"
"Peron's Latest Flame"
"A New Argentina"
"Don't Cry For Me Argentina"
"High Flying Adored"
"Rainbow High"
"And the Money Kept Rolling In (And Out) "
"She Is a Diamond"
"Waltz For Eva and Che"
"You Must Love Me"
"Eva's Final Broadcast"
"Lament"

After a successful recording with Julie Covington in the lead role, Evita premiered at the Prince Edward Theatre in 1978. Hal Prince’s production made a London star out of Elaine Paige and a Broadway star out of Patti LuPone.
