Rick Lyon

Rick Lyon, who created the roles as well as the puppets for Avenue Q's Nicky and Trekkie Monster, will return to the Broadway company of the Tony-winning musical next month.

Lyon told Playbill.com that he will rejoin the cast at the Golden Theatre May 2. Lyon played his final performance in the Las Vegas production of Q April 23. Lyon's wife, Tonya Dixon, who he met and married while in Las Vegas, will continue playing Gary Coleman in the Vegas production through its final performance, May 28.

Actor-puppeteer Lyon also said that he has just completed creating the puppets for the London production of Avenue Q, which began rehearsals last week. The West End Avenue Q is scheduled to begin performances June 1 at the Noel Coward Theatre.

Rick Lyon, who designed all the puppets for Avenue Q, also portrays Nicky, Trekkie Monster and Bad Idea Bear #1 in the Jeff Marx-Robert Lopez-Jeff Whitty musical. A professional puppeteer for more than 25 years, Lyon's credits include "Sesame Street," "Bear in the Big Blue House," "Between the Lions," "Men in Black," the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" films and "Muppetvision 3D." Avenue Q marked his Broadway debut.

Avenue Q plays on Broadway at the Golden Theatre, 252 West 45 Street. For more information on the show, visit www.avenueq.com.
