If it’s spring in New York City, then you can be guaranteed that somewhere in the metropolis a theatre awards-related event is going on. Such was the case on May 2, when the nominees for this year’s Drama Desk Awards gathered on the Upper West Side to celebrate their achievement.

The annual awards group together both Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, resulting in a nominations list that each year is filled with the very biggest of names in the theatre, from top to bottom. For a full list of the 2006 nominees, click here.

At left, Sutton Foster and Casey Nicholaw, from nomination-leading The Drowsy Chaperone, Jim Dale (The Threepenny Opera) and Christine Ebersole (Grey Gardens) and The History Boys’ Samuel Barnett and Richard Griffiths are seen at the reception. Below, The Pajama Game stars Harry Connick, Jr. and Kelli O'Hara, as well as Frances de la Tour, Zoe Wanamaker and Lauren Ambrose enjoy the Drama Desk nominees reception at Artecafe on West 73rd Street in Manhattan.
