Off-Broadway's Irish Repertory Theatre reinvents Dylan Thomas' "A Child's Christmas in Wales" with a concert presentation officially opening Dec. 11, following previews that began Dec. 7, at the company's W. Scott McLucas Studio Theatre.

Charlotte Moore, who helms the company's current production of Brian Friel's Dancing at Lughnasa — which was extended through Jan. 15, 2012 — directs. John Bell is musical director for the limited engagement that continues through Dec. 31.

A Child's Christmas in Wales in Concert features Tony nominee Howard McGillin (Anything Goes, Phantom of the Opera), Edwin Cahill (Lovemusik), Danielle Erin Rhodes (The Marvelous Wonderettes), Ashley Robinson (Irish Rep's Meet Me in St. Louis) and Beverly Ward (Crazy for You national tour).

The concert production, according to Irish Rep, "features both traditional and contemporary Christmas music interwoven within the classic story of the legendary snowy Christmas Day in Wales."

Other members of the creative team include costume designer David Toser, lighting designer Michael O'Connor and production stage manager April A. Kline.

The Irish Repertory Theatre, founded by Ciarán O'Reilly and Moore in 1988, brings works by Irish and Irish-American masters and contemporary playwrights to American audiences, to provide a context for understanding the contemporary Irish-American experience, and to encourage the development of new works focusing on the Irish and Irish-American experience.

The Irish Repertory Theatre is located at 132 West 22nd Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues. For more information, visit www.irishrep.org/childschristmasinwales.html. For tickets, call (212) 727-2737 or visit www.irishrep.org.
