Added Performance of Starting Here, Starting Now Reunion Concert Plays Dec. 9
09 Dec 2012
An encore performance of The York Theatre Company's recent reunion concert staging of Starting Here, Starting Now,Richard Maltby, Jr. and David Shire's hit Off-Broadway musical revue, is presented Dec. 9 at 7:30 PM at The York Theatre at Saint Peter's. A second encore performance will be seen Dec. 16 at 7:30 PM.
With direction by Maltby and music direction by Kevin Stites, the evening (first presented Dec. 2) reunites original cast members Loni Ackerman (Cats, Evita), Margery Cohen (Berlin to Broadway with Kurt Weill) and George Lee Andrews (The Phantom of the Opera).
"The excitement of young love and the confusion of growing up (or is it the other way around?) are explored in Starting Here, Starting Now," according to press notes. "Using songs from their various early musicals (produced or otherwise), from tender ballads to hysterical husband-hunting laments, from wry comments on trendy marriages to ecstatic shouting-from-the-rooftop celebration, Starting Here, Starting Now [is] a bold journey through the maze of relationships." The production debuted in 1976 at Manhattan Theatre Club before transferring to Barbarann Theater Restaurant followed by a Grammy nomination for the original cast album.
Tickets are priced at $74.50 and are available online at yorktheatre.org, by calling (212) 935-5820, or in person at the box office at the York Theatre at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).
