The American Theatre Wing honors six generations of the Redgrave family for their contributions to the theatre during a Sept. 24 gala at the Plaza Hotel.
The 6:30 PM event recognizes the achievements of Michael Redgrave, Rachel Kempson, Vanessa Redgrave, Lynn Redgrave, Corin Redgrave, Natasha Richardson, Liam Neeson, Franco Nero, Joely Richardson, Jemma Redgrave, director Carlo Nero and photographer Annabel Clark.
The gala also pays tribute to former American Theatre Wing chair and executive director of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, Theodore S. Chapin.
Vanessa Redgrave and other members of the family are expected to be in attendance.
The evening promises performances, dinner and cocktails. All proceeds benefit the education and outreach programs of the American Theatre Wing.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
