And I And Silence, Naomi Wallace's drama about a friendship formed in prison, officially opens Off-Broadway Aug. 25 following previews that began Aug. 5 at the Signature Theatre

The production continues through Sept. 14 in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center.

Directed by Caitlin McLeod, the cast includes Trae Harris (Newlyweeds, "Orange Is the New Black") as Young Jamie, Rachel Nicks ("Nurse Jackie," Life Support) as Jamie, Emily Skeggs (Fun Home, Transport) as Young Dee and Samantha Soule (A Fable, Detroit '67) as Dee.

"Two imprisoned teenagers, one black, one white, form a perilous bond," press notes state. "As the young women serve time, they forge a plan for survival. When the outside world proves even more dangerous than the jail itself, their private world becomes an untenable practice ground for their new lives. And I and Silence explores the fierce dreams of youth and the brutal reality of adulthood in 1950's America."

The creative team includes Rachel Hauck (scenic design), Clint Ramos (costume design), Bradley King (lighting design), Elisheba Ittoop (sound design), Charlotte Fleck (dialect coach) and David Anzuelo (fight direction). Amanda Michaels is the production stage manager. Casting is by Telsey + Company, Karyn Casl, CSA.

All tickets for the initial run of the production are $25 as part of the Signature Ticket Initiative: A Generation of Access.

The Pershing Square Signature Center is located at 480 West 42nd Street. Tickets and more information are available by calling (212) 244-7529 or visiting signaturetheatre.org.
