29 Oct 2013
The Signature Theatre staging of Crossing, the first of three world-premiere musicals to receive a full production as part of the Arlington theatre company's 2013-14 season, begins performances Oct. 29.
Directed by artistic director Eric Schaeffer, performances play the MAX Theatre.
With music and lyrics by Matt Conner and book by Grace Barnes (the co-creators of Nevermore, produced at Signature in 2006), Crossing, press notes state, "transforms a train station platform into a meeting place across time and space, weaving a colorful blend of musical genres into a poignant and enchanting song cycle."
The cast features Austin Colby, Florence Lacey, Christopher Mueller, Tracy Lynn Olivera, Nova Y. Payton, Chris Sizemore, Peggy Yates and Ines Nassara.
“Crossing breaks every rule in its form and structure, and it promises to be an exciting experience,” director Schaeffer said in an earlier statement. “This musical is non-conventional, groundbreaking, and daring, so it’s very fitting that it has its world premiere at Signature.”
The creative team includes lighting designer Chris Lee, costume designer Kathleen Geldard, scenic designer Schaeffer, associate scenic designer Douglas A. Clarke, music director Gabriel Mangiante and production stage manager Kerry Epstein.
Performances continue through Nov. 24.
