John Hill, who was seen on Broadway in Hairspray and The Boy From Oz and Off-Broadway in Bare, will premiere his new cabaret act May 15 at the Duplex.
On May 15, 22 and 29 and June 5, the singing actor will present Skinny Corpse, which, according to press notes, promises "a hilarious and revealing evening of songs and ramblings." Cabaretgoers can expect to hear Hill's tirades about MySpace and Michael Musto as well as his renditions of Enigma's "Return to Innocence" and Yaz's "Only You."
Joy's Ben Rimalower will direct the concerts, which will feature musical direction by Brian Nash. Jason Courson is producing.
The Duplex is located in Manhattan at 61 Christopher Street. There is a $15 cover charge and a two-drink minimum. Call (212) 255-5438 for reservations.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
