West End musical theatre star Elaine Paige will offer a holiday concert Dec. 19 at the Birmingham Symphony Hall.
Paige will be joined by former Sunset Boulevard co-star John Barrowman as well as Danny Seward for the concert, which is titled Elaine Paige Sings the Musicals at Christmas. The evening will also feature the BBC Concert Orchestra.
Arguably Britain's most successful musical theatre actress, Elaine Paige has starred on the London stage in Evita, Cats, Chess, Anything Goes, Piaf, Sunset Boulevard and The King and I. She made her Broadway debut to much acclaim in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard, and her recordings are numerous. Paige recently appeared in the New York City Opera's production of Sweeney Todd, earning a Drama Desk Award nomination for her performance as Mrs. Lovett. She currently hosts a radio program on BBC Radio 2 entitled "Elaine Paige On Sunday."
Tickets for Paige's concert are priced £22.50-£32.50. Call 0121 780 3333 for more information or visit www.symphonyhall.co.uk/boxoffice.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
