Bernice Bobs Her Mullet Reading to Feature Andrew Call, Kathy Fitzgerald and Joe Aaron Reid
26 Oct 2012
Andrew Call, Kathy Fitzgerald and Joe Aaron Reid will take part in a New York industry reading of Bernice Bobs Her Mullet on Nov. 2. The musical comedy has been revised since its debut at the 2007 New York International Fringe Festival.
Richard Roland will direct the 2 PM presentation of the musical that has book, music and lyrics by Joe Major. David John Madore will be musical director. Bernice Bobs Her Mullet is loosely based on the F. Scott Fitzgerald short story "Bernice Bobs Her Hair."
The cast will feature Call (American Idiot, Glory Days), Fitzgerald (9 to 5, The Producers) and Reid (Ghost, "Smash"), as well as Devon Buchanan, KC Comeaux, Natalie Hiatt, Dana Mierlak and Kassie Carroll as the show's title character.
Here's how the show is billed: "Bernice Bobs Her Mullet is the hilarious story of a young high school redneck who sets out to make something of her life in the bustling metropolis of Little Rock, Arkansas. As she encounters a social scene treacherous enough to rival Fitzgerald's original version, Bernice is soon swept up in the glamour and politics of popularity as she learns the hard way that you shouldn't let it... go to your head!"

Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
