Guild Hall presents Tony and Emmy Award winner Blythe Danner and Simon Jones in Tonight at 8:30: An Evening of Three Light and Musical Comedies beginning July 17 in East Hampton.
Tony winner Tony Walton directs the Noel Coward one-acts, which also feature Tuck Milligan along with Andrew Botsford, Gerard Doyle, Delphi Harrington, Tina Jones, James Lawson, Kate Mueth and Bobby Peterson.
Show times are Tuesdays-Sundays at 8:30 PM through Aug. 3 with an additional performance Aug. 4 at 2 PM.
Tonight at 8:30 was written as a series of ten-one acts by Coward as "acting, singing, and dancing vehicles for Gertrude Lawrence and myself." The plays are typically performed in any combination of three. Hands Across the Sea, Family Album and Red Peppers are attributed to be the most popular in the script and will be performed at Guild Hall.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
