Book of Mormon Wins Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album

The Broadway cast recording of the musical The Book of Mormon won the 2012 Grammy Award in the category of Best Musical Theater Album, formerly called Best Show Album. The 54th annual Grammys, honoring excellence in the recording industry, are being handed out Feb. 12.

The winner in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category was "Duets II" (Tony Bennett & Various Artists). Its competition was "The Gift" (Susan Boyle), "In Concert On Broadway" (Harry Connick Jr.), "Music Is Better Than Words" (Seth MacFarlane) and "What Matters Most - Barbra Streisand Sings The Lyrics of Alan and Marilyn Bergman" (Barbra Streisand).

CBS will broadcast the Grammys live beginning at 8 PM ET. Some award recipients were revealed in a pre-broadcast ceremony.
