A by-invitation-only developmental reading of Asa Somers' new rock musical, Something As Big As This, will be presented July 2.

Directed by Louis Hobson, the cast will be headed by Tony nominee and recent "Smash" star Brian d'Arcy James with Emma Hunton (Rent, Spring Awakening), Jenn Colella (Urban Cowboy, High Fidelity), Preston Sadleir (Next to Normal), Kingsley Leggs (Sister Act, Color Purple), Benjamin Schrader (Book of Mormon, Avenue Q), Wayne Duvall (Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln," "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"), F. Michael Haynie (Carrie, Dogfight), Jared Zirilli (Lysistrata Jones, Wicked), Dennis Holland (The Music Man), Elyse Knight, Naama Potok and Joyce van Patten.

"Based on a case that captivated and shocked a nation," press notes state, "this original musical chronicles three disparate lives and how they become intertwined one fateful night in the dark corners of Central Park."

Musical directors are Drama Desk winner Mary-Mitchell Campbell (Company, Next to Normal, Addams Family) and Scott Wasserman.

Director Hobson also produces.
