Brian Dennehy Bites Into Twelfth Night, Opening at Stratford Festival July 15

Tony Award winner Brian Dennehy is Sir Toby Belch, Stephen Ouimette is Sir Andrew Aguecheek, and Sara Topham is Olivia in Des McAnuff's new production of Twelfth Night, opening July 15 at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Canada.

Performances of the romantic comedy by Shakespeare began June 26 at Stratford's flagship theatre, the Festival Theatre. It continues in rep to Oct. 28.

Dennehy (Broadway's Death of a Salesman, Long Day's Journey Into Night), Ouimette (Broadway's La Bete and TV's "Slings & Arrows") and Topham (Broadway's The Importance of Being Earnest) are joined by Tom Rooney as Malvolio, Andrea Runge as Viola; Ben Carlson as Feste; Trent Pardy as Sebastian; Cara Ricketts as Maria; Mike Shara as Orsino; Michael Blake as Antonio; Brad Canning as Musician; Juan Chioran as Fabian; Ryan Field as Valentine; Ian Lake as Second Officer; Roy Lewis as Priest; Stephen Russell as First Officer; Jaz Sealey as Curio; Holly Shephard as Musician; Timothy D. Stickney as Sea-Captain; Merlin Williams as Musician; with Victor Dolhai, Miranda Edwards, Barbara Fulton, Sarah Kitz, Aaron Krohn, Suzy Jane Hunt and Robert Persichini.

"Shipwrecked on the coast of Illyria, Viola adopts male disguise and enters the service of Duke Orsino, only to find herself part of a triangle of unrequited love," according to the famed festival, where Tony Award winner McAnuff (The Who's Tommy, Jersey Boys) is artistic director. "Meanwhile, in the household of the Countess Olivia, Sir Toby Belch and his unruly companions trick Olivia's strict and disapproving steward, Malvolio, into believing that she loves him."
