Brian Smolin, Carly Zien, Rasha Zamamiri and More Cast in Kait Kerrigan's Transit at Chautauqua Theater Company

Casting has been announced for the Signature Staged Reading of Kait Kerrigan's Transit at the Chautauqua Theater Company.
Transit will be presented Aug. 1-3 on the Bratton Theater Mainstage.
Directed by Sarah Rasmussen, the cast of Transit features Brian Smolin, Carly Zien, Rasha Zamamiri, Kate Skinner, Landon Woodson, Matt Raich and Tangela Large.
"A small-town newscaster seizes her opportunity for a big break when an unidentified Muslim woman jumps in front of a commuter train on the one-year anniversary of a major terrorist attack," press notes state. "Delving into the haunted life of the train's conductor, his ailing mother and his hapless colleague, Transit explores the power of faith in the face of fear — and of fear in the face of faith."
The creative team of Transit features the design work of CTC’s 2013 Design Fellows: Lauren Mills (scenic design), Janet O'Neill (costume design), Sarah Tunderman (lighting design) and Justin Schmitz (sound design). Bonnie Brady is stage manager and Jessica Kidwell is assistant stage manager.
Kerrigan, who frequently collaborates with composer Brian Lowdermilk, is a Brooklyn-based playwright, lyricist, and bookwriter. She made her Off-Broadway debut in 2006 with her musical Henry and Mudge, which went on to win her the Kleban Award for Most Promising Librettist. Her plays include Disaster Relief, and Imaginary Love, which world premiered at the Hapgood Theatre. Her musicals (all written with Lowdermilk) include The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown, which was produced at the Goodspeed's Norma Terris Theatre, Tales from the Bad Years, and the forthcoming Republic.
