Broadway Dreams Foundation's Night of Dreams, Featuring Tituss Burgess, Morgan James and Joey Contreras, Held Dec. 9
09 Dec 2013
Night of Dreams, the Broadway Dreams Foundation's third annual holiday gala, is held Dec. 9 at 7:30 PM at Celsius.
The event, which includes cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and performances by Tituss Burgess, Morgan James, Ryann Redmond, Adrienne Warren and Joey Contreras, as well as current Broadway Dreams students from across the country, celebrates the musical theatre training program.
Proceeds from the evening will allow The Broadway Dreams Foundation to continue to offer educational opportunities, theatrical training and scholarships to students.
The Broadway Dreams Foundation teaches the next generation of musical theatre performers how to kick-start their career through week-long performance intensives taught by Broadway industry insiders. BDF offers scholarships to hundreds of participants each year; this past year, 42 percent of all BDF students attended programs on full or partial scholarship.
The Night of Dreams Gala also kicks off the second season-long partnership between The Broadway Dreams Foundation and Upsilon Ventures. This collaboration helps BDF to realize the Park's mission of providing free entertainment to its more than six million annual visitors with performances by BDF students and Broadway teaching artists.
Past students have gone on to star on Broadway and in national touring and regional productions, including If/Then, Annie, Little Miss Sunshine, Violet, The Book of Mormon, Bring It On the Musical, Porgy and Bess, Evita and more.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
